    Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Regional China Business Development Manager to join our Performance Specialties team. This position will be based in our Shanghai, China office. This leadership position will report to the Global General Manager, Performance Specialties and the successful candidate will be a key part of the business line management team.

    The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Generating sustainable and profitable growth for the Performance Specialties Business Line within the Business Unit Specialty Additives
    • Introducing and commercializing new products, both core and from our new technology platforms. This includes personal leadership to develop sales at key target accounts
    • Identifying new business opportunities (including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products, and services - or new ways of reaching existing markets)
    • Developing strong partnerships with prospective customers, existing clients, market influencers, and other relevant partners to generate new business at target customers working closely with the sales and R&D teams
    • Sustain and grow the customer base.
    • Maintain an expert knowledge (market & products) of segment trends as well as new innovations within the business
    • Collaborate and connect with all applicable Ashland departments to ensure transparency and alignment.
    • Strategic support and guidance of customers, sales organization, and distribution partners e.g., technical support, price recommendations, customer visits, trainings and workshops

    In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

    • A track record of success with scale and impact of innovation at customers
    • A minimum of a bachelor's degree preferred in chemical engineering/science or equivalent.
    • 3-5 years of proven working experience as business development manager, strategic marketing or sales manager, or a relevant role in the industrial specialties industry.
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Willingness to travel (approx. 40-50%).

    The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

    • Knowlege in research, microbiology or product development.
    • Strong presentation and communication skills.
