This position is part of the Manufacturing Technology (MT) startup team supporting the Specialty Lubricants (MOLYKOTE) business within DuPont Electronics & Industrial (E&I) Industrial Solutions segment.
The MT organization is accountable for the process technology needed to support the end-to-end manufacture of products at the plant sites.
The MT organization works across functions (MT, Integrated Operations & Quality, EH&S, R&D/ TS&D, commercial, marketing, and supply chain) to deliver results on key programs and projects in alignment to execute the site and business strategic goals.
Detailed Responsibilities:
Demonstrate strong leadership and accountability by being a role model for core values, business & site goals, and continuous improvement
Core member of the MOLYKOTE manufacturing unit leadership team; helps set the technical direction
Provide technical input in the completion for the design packages for build new MOLYKOTE manufacturing unit.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and safety protocols, maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel.
Lead and/or be a technical reviewer for manufacturing process changes; expertise with management of change (MOC) and change of design (COD) work processes; lead any scaleup work needed to achieve project goals
Effectively provide technical support for plant operations; assist with and/or lead process upsets, root cause analyses, and continuous improvement projects, working closely to support/mentor/develop MT process (ATO/Run-plant) engineer, quality, and improvement engineers, and other functions within the High Performance Work System (HPWS) team
Team member on new product commercialization framework (NPCF) projects representing manufacturing during early phases thru commercialization; plays a lead role in defining and implement manufacturing process(es) to achieve project goals working closely across functions.
Ensures a safe and efficient process is handed over to the operations team.Lead technology plans and basic data development for capital projects; may lead small capital projects or work closely with other engineers to implement.
Lead startup efforts for capital projects, following DuPont project process and best practices.Lead / support the advancement of the process technology; work with Global Technology Guardian to execute the technology roadmap.
Provide technical support for contract manufacturing projects – if local North America support is required, and under direction of the Global Technology Guardian
This position reports to the Global Manufacturing Technology Leader and receives local oversight, training, and guidance from plant Leadership.
Limited travel (<10%) is expected depending on project responsibilities (travel to other DuPont sites or external parties such as suppliers, manufacturers)
The position is primarily based on site, but some work may be done remotely.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations and/or capital / improvement projects as a manufacturing representative
Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex process and production issues using a team approach and data driven analysis.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present technical information clearly and concisely.
A strong desire to apply fundamental knowledge to solve challenging problems.
Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement and statistical analysis experience
Proven skills with MOC and/or COD
Experience with new product commercialization including scaleup
Experience with process technology improvements / advancements
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Strong team player with an ability to work closely with cross functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with silicone chemistry, mixing, and extrusion processes
Experience with capital project planning and execution, including use of the DuPont Project Process and tools such as EcoSys.
Six Sigma green belt (or higher) or Lean certified
Experience with plant support (root cause analysis, MOC, COD) and continuous improvement processes (examples: LEAN, Kaizen)
Possess strong interpersonal skills to be an effective team member and have passion to develop team members within the High Performance Work System (HPWS) environment
Additional Key Competencies for Success
Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs and be able to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Must be able to work independently and represent DuPont externally (as needed with suppliers)
Ability to manage multiple tasks and objectives as well as take on additional roles to meet business needs.
