    Senior Director Marketplace Strategy - Shanghai, 中国 - adidas

    Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

    Lead the marketplace strategy and asset management teams to develop retail expansion and optimization strategy for China market; develop location assessment and store segmentation reflective of consumer behavior and linkage to cross-functional initiatives; track, plan, and manage budgets for store opening, closures, and remodels to ensure optimal marketplace coverage, including both Franchise and Own Retail store fleets.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage the retail expansion strategy team, monitor marketplace developments at a granular level in China market
    • Manage all Marketplace Transformation projects, such as new format strategy; work with cross-function teams to ensure the successful execution of related programs
    • As part of the strategic planning role, manage and track target setting for new big stores
    • Develop specific analytic approach and conduct advanced and technical data analysis
    • Manage PLM and BPM processes, customer store support scheme, Capex/Opex planning & compliance

    SUB TEAM: Strategy & Key Cities

    • Global Key Cities performance tracking and quarterly reporting
    • Track Offline market capacity and marketshare at Regional, city cluster, and trade zone level
    • Define and communicate GCA Retail Guardrails & Positioning with BU/brand stakeholders
    • Set retail expansion / optimization strategy across range of adidas store formats
    • Run regular cross-functional store approval meeting and act as store approval gatekeeper
    • Source and maintain relevant up-to-date marketplace intelligence and data

    SUB TEAM: Franchise Store Planning and Asset Management

    • Track and forecast store opening progress by customer, and monitor compliance (store audit) with store opening/closure/relocation guidelines
    • Maintain franchise store tracking database (PLM), ensure usability and linkage with other business functions
    • Manage franchise store opening support budget (capex and opex)
    • Define, maintain and communicate investment guidelines for franchise stores
    • HQ programs mgt (Fleet Audit, Traffic counters, Design projects, RFID, Fixture recycling)

    SUB TEAM: Mall Allocation & Own Retail Asset Management:

    • Define, maintain, and communicate policies and procedures for assigning and allocating malls to franchise partners
    • Support customer account strategy for marketplace development
    • Manage/Report/Action on account compliance and manage dispute cases
    • Manage GCA and Global store approval (BPM) process for own retail stores, including openings, closures, renewals, and remodels.
    • Manage own retail store development budget (capex)
    • Real estate Lease Management

    KPI:

    • Delivery of related initiatives and modules on-time and with high quality
    • Development of strong rapport with key stakeholders
    • Store opening and closure control KPI
    • Relevance of analysis, reporting and tools to business priority needs
    • User feedback on analysis, reporting and tools

    Key Relationships:

    • Internal: Senior Leadership Team, Real Estate Team, Region sales and Key Account team, Finance, Strategic Planning Team
    • External: External consultants or other data/information resources

    Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

    • 15+ years of general business experience
    • Experience in Business Strategy & Planning
    • Experience with a global consumer goods brand and/or modern retailer
    • Experience in working closely with senior management across functions
    • University degree or above in Math, Statistics or other quantitative subject
    • Advanced statistical methods and analytic techniques – experience with and expertise in:
      • Large dataset manipulation and data mining
      • Statistical analysis in business context: regression, predictive modelling, segmentation / cluster analysis, conjoint analysis etc.
      • Spatial analysis on GIS system is preferred
    • High proficiency or expertise with database, statistical and business intelligence systems (e.g., SAS, SPSS etc)
    • Solid business sense and critical-thinking ability – able to solve problems using both conventional judgment and ad-hoc analysis
    • Mature and credible interpersonal skills– able to quickly build trust and act as an influencer across the retail development team and related team
    • Willingness to learn – a drive to learn about all aspects of the business and develop general management competency
    • Fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin
    • MBA or other business- related qualification
    • Strong communication skills and influence skill
