- Lead the planning, development, and implementation of a comprehensive English curriculum that meets the needs of all students
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching, learning, and assessment methods within the English department
- Mentor and support English teachers, facilitating professional development and encouraging innovative teaching practices
- Manage departmental resources effectively, ensuring materials and equipment are available and used efficiently
- Collaborate with other department heads and senior management to align the English department's objectives with the overall educational goals of the institution
- Engage with students, parents, and staff to promote the importance of English literature and language
- Organize and oversee extracurricular activities related to English, such as reading clubs, writing workshops, and literary competitions
- Analyze student performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to address educational gaps
- Prepare and manage the department's budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support teaching and learning objectives
- Stay abreast of developments in English education, curriculum standards, and best practices
- A Bachelor degree in English, Education, or a related field
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Extensive experience teaching English in an international secondary school environment
- Proven leadership experience in an educational setting, preferably within an English department
- Strong understanding of curriculum development, teaching strategies, and educational assessment
- Excellent leadership and management skills
- Ability to inspire and motivate both staff and students
- Strong organizational and planning abilities

About the school
The International High School situated in Songjiang, Shanghai focuses on giving its pupils a broad international curriculum, comprising IGCSE, A Level, IB, and AP, to prepare them to succeed in universities throughout the world.
