    We are looking for an English (EAL) Teacher for a bilingual school based in Shanghai. This is a full-time position starting in August 2024.

    About the school

    A bilingual school, which was founded five years ago, is situated in the middle of the Pudong district of Shanghai. It provides bilingual teaching to students from first grade to the 12th grade of elementary, middle and high school. The school follows the Chinese national curriculum and has elements from the British IGCSE and A levels curriculums to meet the academic needs of its students.

    Job responsibilities

    • Teach the schools IGCSE English and IELTS to students in secondary education
    • Attend regular subject meetings of English staff at which curriculum planning, student progress, and teaching and learning needs are discussed and good practice can be shared;
    • Take part in the school's rotation of duties such as corridor supervision, supervision of weekly tests etc.;
    • Evaluate and mark students' work, giving appropriate feedback and maintaining records of students' progress and development;
    • Prepare students for EAL qualifications as required;
    • Participate in regular departmental meetings, INSET, school training events, observation and professional review in order to maximise the quality of teaching;
    • Write regular, informative and individual reports on students;
    • Attend annual parents' evenings and any other required parental meeting;

    Requirements

    • Bachelor degree or above
    • A formal teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CELTA)
    • Minimum two years' teaching experience of teaching EAL to all age groups 11-18
    • Experience of teaching IELTS or IGCSE will be beneficial
    • Eligible for applying the English teacher visa
