JOB SUMMARY
Assists department head in overseeing budget, capital expenditures, maintenance, and energy conservation. Responsible for managing building and grounds with a focus on safety, security, and asset protection. Delegates, monitors, and tracks work assigned to staff and contractors. Enhances guest and employee satisfaction through effective communication and training.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in engineering and maintenance or related field; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing.
OR
- 2-year degree in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related area from an accredited university; 2 years experience in engineering and maintenance or related field; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Supporting Department Operations and Engineering Budgets
- Assists in planning, scheduling, and assessing preventative maintenance programs.
- Establishes priorities for property maintenance needs.
- Supervises Engineering operations.
- Manages physical plant equipment, including refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and life safety systems.
- Ensures efficient and safe equipment operation.
- Supervises repair work orders.
- Maintains grounds, meeting spaces, public areas, restaurants, property vehicles, and recreational facilities.
- Acts as a technical liaison across all property departments.
- Recommends additional services such as repairs, renovations, and equipment replacements.
- Selects new equipment, supplies, and furnishings.
- Inspects facilities to determine maintenance needs.
- Manages equipment inventories effectively.
- Evaluates and implements new technologies and supplies.
- Establishes and implements energy conservation programs.
Maintaining Engineering Standards
- Ensures permits and licenses are current for the building and physical plant.
- Ensures compliance with facility regulations and safety standards.
- Upholds Engineering departmental policies and procedures.
- Provides necessary supplies, equipment, and uniforms to employees.
Delivering Exceptional Customer Service
- Demonstrates leadership in guest hospitality by embodying quality customer service and fostering a positive guest environment.
- Gathers guest feedback on service and product quality.
- Encourages employees to deliver exceptional customer service.
Managing Human Resources Activities
- Oversees staffing levels to meet guest service, operational, and financial objectives.
- Provides safety training to employees.
- Trains department staff in fire safety, evacuation procedures.
- Offers feedback to employees on service behaviors.
- Supports operational tasks as needed.
