Job Title: Artist
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Creative Director / Executive Creative Director the Sr. Designer/Artist will create art, and execute designs for all proposed merchandise to be developed as proprietary, assuring the establishment of a significant creative niche for Hardlines and Softlines merchandise in all theme parks and related recreation businesses.
The Sr. Designer/Artist will also take design lead on initial projects and Event specific product development.
Major Responsibilities
Responsible for trend presentations, design, illustration, and execution of art for proposed product groups and event related projects. Interprets themes and concepts, and translates design ideas for a broad range of merchandise. Participate in BlueSky meetings, Work sessions and line reviews. Contributes ideas and design feedback where needed;
Creates and drafts the process for all new product. Leads the team in the development of three-dimensional drawings, detailing product utilizing computer aided design software to enhance the creativity and execution of quality specifications. Flat sketches design samples. Creates character art and develops logo concepts. Responsible for the creation of presentation boards;
Works closely with design team peers, Executive Creative Director, Creative Director, Sr. Merchandise Managers, Buyers, internal partners such as Marketing, Entertainment Art & Design and Universal Creative as a strong contributor and synergize in the creative process of designing Softlines and Hardlines product and ensure expectations are met;
Meet with vendors and provide technical and creative direction when needed to help execute ideas for product development. Articulates ideas and provides artistic insight into concepts under consideration;
Assist and review Product Submissions Approvals. Use Licensing Approval based software such as MyMediaBox to upload, review and approve vendor submissions. Develops process to ensure follow-up on commitments and high priority issues. Establishes artist workflow and timeliness of creative work;
Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UBR policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
3-5 years of direct illustration, experience is required in the design of soft lines apparel and hard lines product development, Adobe Illustrator, and PhotoShop; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
The successful candidate is a creative, innovative artist, able to translate product design concepts into detailed, exacting illustrations and drawings;
3-D product illustration experience required;
Prior work with design teams focused on product development/private label goods preferred;
Experience with the creation of logos and development of character art preferred.
Education
Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
