KONE Technology & Innovation (KTI) is a global organization of technology, design and IT experts who research and create new technologies and solutions for innovative People Flow.
We are now looking for a Material Engineer/Specialist to join R&D Environmental team at KONE Equipment R&D in Kunshan, China.
R&D Environmental team is responsible for ensuring KONE solutions meet the ever-tightening global environmental legislation as well as green building related customer requirements. We work to show that our solutions are made from safe and durable, sustainable materials which contribute to several major green building rating schemes.
Material Engineer/Specialist is responsible for guiding new R&D projects to select materials into use that meet the requirements as well as collecting materials/chemicals related information together with relevant suppliers and KONE factories to ensure a safe usage of chemicals in our solutions.
To be successful in this position, you will
Marshal and check out all materials especially chemicals used in each module of an elevator Collect materials/chemicals information from supplier base and KONE factories and have an ability to explain why the information is needed (ability to train suppliers when needed) Support suppliers and KONE factories to gain relevant material compliance certificates Cooperate & engage with global teams to work on material management for e.g., LEED, BREEAM, Singapore Green Mark and China Green Star related activities Manage and report carbon calculations for KONE's product offering according to EN15804, ISO 14025 & 14040 Participate actively in the product development of KONE contributing to long term Science Based targets regarding scope 3 emissions reduction Support KTI project development activities to ensure material compliance Be fluent in both written and verbal Chinese and English
Basic knowledge and understanding of green building rating schemes like LEED, BREEAM, Singapore Green Mark, China Green Star, and European REACH and RoHS regulations are a must. Understanding the basics of carbon calculations according to EN15804, ISO14025 & 14040 standards is a must. Any previous knowledge or experience of potential other green building ratings schemes or creating Environmental Product Declarations are considered a great plus. You need great co-operation and networking skills.
Skills, Education and Experience
Bachelor or Master's degree in Material/Chemical Engineering or similar
Great MS Excel -skills
Some knowledge of Software tools for generating environmental product declaration
Work experience or studies on globally recognized green building rating schemes and European REACH legislation
Some experience in environmental design, carbon footprint calculations & environmental lifecycle analysis
Passion for great service / customer experience
Fluent in both written and verbal Chinese and English
Coding experience for large MS Excel files is an asset
