Mike Lunn-Parsons

I am a deeply musical individual and have been listening to very rich music (Tears for Fears, Michael Jackson, Mozart to name a few). I've been playing music from an early age. I have been making original compositions in a whole range of genres from progressive rock and progressive metal (conceptually similar to classical music) to electronic, jazz and even classical compositions.  I originally started my journey on brass with the cornet but take a break from brass.  I later moved to the electric guitar when I was 17 and and I have continued to play for 12 years. Other film projects that I'm currently working on remotely  demanded a more dynamic sound scape. Hans Zimmer was a huge inspiration motivating this drive. The cinematic medium demanded various intonations for better ways to communicate emotions. I then began playing piano and have played for around 2.5 years. I then added various brass instruments into the mix. Cycling back to other brass and wind instruments. I then added the trumpet, alto sax, and tenor sax into the tools. While violin is extremely difficult if not the most it similarly functions very similarly to the electric guitar. I finally added a Chinese 古筝 which I understand conceptually as something between a guitar and piano. or a Chinese harp with steal strings like a guitar. The piano as a tool I feel best communicates orchestral compositions through just as  many many great composers and producers did and continue to do so. Piano adds 10 digits and therefore10 levels of dimensionality to communicating an idea with only one instrument and all the digits available and further adding deeper levels of expression with the foot pedals. It's almost a perfect holistic tool to convey musical ideas and indeed it's. further my willingness to explore other musical tools has helped to understand the intertonality between the interactions of these instruments further aided by my need to listen and actualize my creative ideals. 

I believe I have a wide variety of skills to communicate as a creator and even a deeper philosophical conception to further rationalise my ideals. My music theory is a little bit far behind a professional muedian but I believe I have a very deep fundamental understanding of the theory and the trajectory of an idea thanks to my willingness to learn many things by ear and utilising piano roll and reading sheet music accompanied with music on YouTube. My progression as a musician has exponentially increased in the last 3 years as I added a fundamental conception to music theory and intertonality between all these instruments interacting together. I believe I can actualise these ideas as I've spent almost four years teaching English to students with extremely differentiated abilities in their attainment. I believe I have a lot to offer to this position and I would love to further share some of my musical compositions and further add something to the conversation in where classical music could go in the future with a cinematic revival or even further reviving it in other mediums such as video games and cartoons.

I've been working in China as a 英文外教老师 at 金苹果双语学校。I have learnt a huge amount of from teaching a broad range of students and it's provided me the opportunity to communicate very complicated concepts to a broad set of abilities. I know how to differentiate very quickly and communicate simple concepts. in the case of music… let's start with a note. adding two or more notes is what we we call a chord. I understand that the 12 tone western system of music functions in the same way as alphabet. if the 12 tone system functionally conveys a language and chords and scales synthesized together act as a representation of actuslised causality. the further question is does music function as a language? further story? if agree, then we arrive at a shared conclusion that music is a language just like the spoken word. rather than only being  limited to the voice and percussive claps we complexly extrapolated to arrive at complex technologies to effectively express our causal intentions. 

I've been able to come to these conclusions thanks to a broad interest in education that eventually lead me to fundamentally question the very deep meaning of everything. I had an interest in theologies. philosophy. science psychology and politics and I achieved moderate grades at Priestley College in the UK. 

I further pursued psychology and politics hoping to pursue a broad interest in two split fields but fundamentally very interconnected. 

Music was however my real tool for expressing my emotional needs and I have since worked on many personal projects creating songs for my own pleasure and created an album during longer based on older works in progress. I'm extremely proud of 78 days and I am transforming it into a viewable music video.  I am continuing to work on creating an album inspired by my love of 60s, 70s, progressive rock and have a broad concept and a means to bring it to the real world. I have in tandem moved to creating songs for cinematic projects too. I've worked on around 6 films and I have undertaken my biggest project yet working on a feature film “Here comes the Duke” referencing of course the creators love of Bowie I hopefully enhance this project with a wide variety of musical tools to really transcend the visual art beyond moving pictures and sound. My extreme love of Hans Zimmer and his very deep work on Interstellar and his very deliberate use the organ in many pieces helping perfectly connect the ultimate conclusion of the film. The organ and theological concepts are what took us into space 5000 years ago. and we are continuing to transcendentaly actualise this in our pursuit for space travel. Cooper represented in the tesseract using a 3 dimensional object The hand of God acting out the very fundamental laws of the universe projecting a 3d object through 5 dimensional space to provide answers to his daughter in the past.

Zimmer and Nolan beautifully working together clearly understanding casulity shared in both science and theology synthesizing and transcending far beyond just another cinematic experience. God like some could argue. 

At Lymm High I was exposed to a broad education. Lymm High as a language college aimed to teach us the importance of learning languages teaching German French and Spanish. I achieved a C in German. However I still have a deep desire for language learning now I'm in the right learning context speaking a decent level of Chinese thanks to this broad interest in languages from high school.

I learnt my love of humanities here pursuing Religious Studies and history Achieving a B in both subjects. I further pursued other subjects such as Geography, Science, Maths, English and achieved a C in all necessary GCSEs.

One I had further agency over my choices I studied Politics, Psychology and Philosophy and Religious Studies. I achieved a B, A, B in these subjects and added in critical thinking as an elective and achieved a C. My broad interest in the humanities driven by a deeper desire to find the answers I was looking for.
