Racism Is Boring - I hate Identity Politics So I Moved To South Korea From America to be BRAVE!

"Identity politics is basically when they get you all pissed off about your identity so you are easy to manipulate and politicians can control the vote."- Lyon Brave

Politicians are always using divisive speech to control the vote; us vs them, men vs women, whites vs blacks, America vs immigrants, Mexicans vs walls. '

Identity politics includes everyone, but in this video, I mostly focused on the black-white narrative told in America because that is more relevant to my life and what is happening in America at this time and always happening in America it seems with the George Floyd protests.

A lot of people do not really talk about it, but blacks and whites are not really friends with each other and never have been, which is pretty crazy!

Lyon Brave Funmi Ade This added thought & encouragement which I state in poetry apply to this topic: “Breaking Free” https://www.bebee.com/producer/@fay-vietmeier-pennsylvania/breaking-free 2) I have lived long enough to grasp this truth: People see what they want to see and hear what they want to hear. Truth is NOT the filter and often “truth be dammed” Each person has their own unique filter. “We don’t see things as they are; we see them as we are.” ~ Anais Nin For example: When I hear our President and VP speak ... I do not hear “divisive speech” or “racism or xenophobia” This is NOT to say that sometimes they say something that could be considered unwise ... even foolish or self-promoting. People, being mere humans, all respond to personal attacks uniquely ... the thinner the skin the harder the harsher the response We are all imperfect ... all guilty of the same things.

Lyon Brave Brave Lyon ~ You rightly say: you will not be “marginalized by identity politics” ... and YES, “racism IS boring” Manipulation occurs because people lack discernment & wisdom. “Racisms are all over the world” ... many types of “ISM’s” All are used to define & judge ourselves & others: skin color, social status: caste system-class or rank, age, physically attractive or not, material wealth or lack, education or lack, mental ability or lack which includes disabilities) Beliefs & Values or lack of them. ... I have lived many decades. Had many more laps around the “cornfield of life” (than you or my sagacious son) The root of all “ISM’s” including “racism” is spiritual. This is wisdom from on High: “The Separator separates.” The evil one, who is the “god of this age & the prince of this world” is the root cause of separation throughout human history. People may knowingly or unknowingly cooperate with this spirit of separation. Another factor of influence is human-PRIDE. Human beings have a habit of comparing themselves to others which produces jealousy & striving ... low self-worth & self-condemnation ... self-doubt, even bitterness. “Comparisons are odious” ... in plain words: they STINK http://www.truthistheword.com/comparisons-are-odious/ The problem is exacerbated by “sowing to the flesh.” (living in and for externals: all temporary) The cure is “sowing to the spirt.” Focus on spiritual growth. All that is valuable & precious about each person is internal: spirit-soul-heart-mind I know in aces, this is Simple but NOT easy.

Lyon Brave Funmi Ade Great points you make I hope you will read my recent poem (which mirrors some of your thoughts: "What Color is Light?" https://www.bebee.com/producer/@fay-vietmeier-pennsylvania/what-color-is-light “There are rare things in life” Truth is a “rare thing” ... in that is available/accessible ... but only a few recognize & accept it Genuine faith is a “rare thing” Spiritual strength is a “rare thing” Righteousness is a “rare” thing These qualities are “rare” ... in that anyone can lay hold of them: ... they are available/accessible ... but only a few recognize & accept ... BELIEVE & RECEIVE what God has said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIaT8Jl2zpI Lauren Daigle “You Say” I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I'm not enough Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low? Remind me once again just who I am, because I need to know You say I am loved when I can't feel a thing You say I am strong when I think I am weak And You say I am held when I am falling short And when I don't belong, oh, You say I am Yours And I believe What You say of me I believe

“Submitting to censorship is to enter the seductive world of The Giver: the world where there are no bad words and no bad deeds. But it is also the world where choice has been taken away and reality distorted. And that is the most dangerous world of all.” ~ Lois Lowry

I agree wholeheartedly however while it is possible for you (and me) to refuse stereotypes and labels, this is a societal issue and erasing it is what becomes a community effort. Psychologists say that people think in 3 ways...they eliminate, fill in the gaps and generalize, therein lies the problem. So while the mantra should be Martin Luther jnr "not colour of the skin but content of one's character" race, gender etc. will continue to be a divisive issue only the individual can tackle and with enough individuals a community change. Until then its wishful thinking to ignore this sometimes deadly reality
