The Department of Digital Economics of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) is recruiting 3 to 5 faculty members specializing in teaching and research in the field of Management.

Introduction to Shanghai University of Finance and Economics

Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) began as a business program at the Nanjing Higher Normal School in 1917. Yang Xingfo, a well-known social activist and patriotic democrat, was appointed as program director. In 1921, as part of the plan to establish the National Southeast University based on Nanjing Higher Normal School, the business program was restructured and transferred to Shanghai, where it established Shanghai University of Commerce under National Southeast University. This university was the first commercial university in China's history of education. Guo Bingwen, a renowned educator, acted as president, and Ma Yinchu, a well-known economist, was the provost.

After generations of hard work and unremitting efforts, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics has become a multi-disciplinary key university that focuses on finance and economics and maintains coordinated development in economics, management, law, arts and science. The university covers an area of about 136 acres (826 mu) and consists of three campuses, with the main campus at No. 777 Guoding Road.

Introduction to the Department of Digital Economics

To serve the national strategy of digital economy development, the university established the Department of Digital Economics at the end of 2022 as a separate entity. It autonomously engages in activities related to talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, international cooperation and exchange, as well as cultural heritage and innovation in the field of digital economy. It is also a crucial part of the construction of the Applied Economics Class IV Peak Discipline in Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. The Department of Digital Economics has two national talents, one member of the National Teaching Steering Committee of Digital Economy, several chair professors and permanent track associate professors, and a large system of part-time professors in the cross-cutting fields of economics, management and computer science. The university has also established the Digital Economy Research Institute, which includes the Digital Convergence Innovation Joint Laboratory, a collaborative effort between Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Alibaba, conducting comprehensive scientific research and talent development.

The Digital Economy Discipline is rooted in interdisciplinary integration. The university has a robust research capability in management studies, securing over 30 national-level projects in the past five years, including those under the National Original Exploration Program and major projects. Dozens of papers have been published in UTD24 journals such as Management Science, Operations Research, MIS Quarterly, Production and Operations Management, as well as top Chinese journals like Management World and Nankai Business Review. Several faculty members have received awards such as the China Operations Research Society Youth Science and Technology Award and the China System Science and Engineering Youth Science and Technology Award .
