- Set up histopathology experimental platforms with global AZ support in method transfer, validation, analysis with the potential of leading a team.
- Establish various biomarker methods and workflow as key histology laboratory capabilities.
- Responsible for IHC method transfer plan, validation process as well as sample analysis o Establish end-to-end process of sample management, testing and data analyses.
- Demonstrate independent scientific leadership and technical judgement, resolve technical challenges during the process.
- Participate and lead in establishing and maintaining QA/QC and record procedures and adhere to AZ standards.
- Close communications with global pathologists/stakeholders and keep updated on technological platforms.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Previous working experiences of setting up clinical biomarker lab.
- Previous knowledge/experiences in CAP or CLIA certified clinical central lab or third-party diagnostic lab.
- College level education with at least 5 years of relevant experiences
- Work experience in CRO, pharmaceuticals or a related industry
- Experience with assay transfer, validation, and sample testing for histology in a clinical diagnostic lab
- Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills
- Fluent in English
- Hands-on experience using Leica and Roche Ventana platforms.
- Experiences in multiplex IHC or IF or high dimensional FACS
- Pathology training in related therapeutic areas preferably in cancers
- Good communication skills in oral and written English

AstraZeneca R&D China is seeking a highly motivated histopathology lead with expertise in clinical biomarker assay development and relevant hands-on experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for various biomarker assay development, bioanalysis data delivery of clinical samples using cutting-edge technologies.
The desired candidate is expected to have a thorough understanding of the principles and guidelines of GXP-like laboratory quality requirements and regulatory standards in support of translational research in multiple cancer types as well as basic knowledge in histology, pathology, immunology, protein chemistry and/or cell biology. He/she will be the histopathology platform lead to develop, validate, and interpret various clinical histopathology-based biomarker measurements, to deliver data for AstraZeneca development programs and initiatives.
Typical Accountabilities
The successful candidate will be accountable for establishing histopathology experimental platforms with globally harmonized methodologies, as well as for developing in-house research capabilities for novel biomarker testing. The candidate will closely interact with AZ global clinical biomarker development community. She/he will work in a cross-functional environment with translational medicine scientists, pharmacologists, and bioinformaticians, clinical physicians, pathologists and strategic collaborators to build strong internal lab capabilities and high-quality systems.
