    Metrology Supervisor

    Position Summary

    This position leads the Metrology team and ensures suitable calibrated tools, metrology equipment, and programs are available throughout the product realization process. The position is responsible for the development of the metrology program and advanced quality control processes and coordinates with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate measurement.

    This position is based in our Shanghai Minhang office and reports directly to the Sr. Quality Assurance Manager.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Leads, oversees, and sets priorities for a team of metrologist and inspectors dedicated to advance quality inspection processes (CMM, 3D measurement equipment, surface topography, etc.)
    • Responsible for developing and maintaining the calibration program and related QMS documentation.
    • Leads coordination effort with international teams to identify metrology equipment needed to support local production and to transfer/develop programs needed to utilize equipment for inspection.
    • Works with Quality Engineering to establish quality control inspection plans and determine tools needed to execute inspections for new product introductions and product transfers.
    • Defines inspection equipment needs to correspond to projected volumes and provides budgeting input to quality management.
    • Overseas the purchase, installation, and qualification of metrology equipment and any associated accessories (fixtures, lenses, wireless kits, etc.).
    • Leads continuous improvement activities aimed at minimizing time and cost of inspections while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and product requirements.
    • Read and interpret technical specifications and drawings to determine appropriate inspection methods.
    • Ensuring that instrumentation and equipment that support the manufacture and testing of products are calibrated at specified intervals. This includes executing calibration protocols, performing calibrations, making adjustments, and troubleshooting/repairing manufacturing QA/QC equipment.
    • Work with cross functional teams to create and import inspection programs for various inspection equipment.
    • Preparing calibration documentation and updating the calibration database.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience in using, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, pin gauges, ring gauges.
    • Experience in programming, using, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment such as CMMs, surface roughness machines, and contour machines.
    • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings for machined parts.
    • Familiarity with calibration/maintenance scheduling and tracking software programs
    • Experience working in cGMP/ISO maintenance or calibration environment for a medical device manufacturer is strongly preferred.
