    Job Summary

    Costume Stitcher performs alterations and repairs on costume pieces and costumes; communicates with other internal show teams and builds new costumes as required for Characters, parades, shows, atmosphere performances and special events.

    Major Responsibilities


    • Perform repairs on costumes including, but not limited to, repairing rips, replacing zippers, changing and replacing trim and making costumes bigger or smaller to accommodate performers size.


    • Ability to do sewing skills (i.e., putting in a zipper with a sewing machine, stitch button holes, ability to follow patterns, etc.). Must pass a basic sewing skills test.


    • Perform alterations (i.e., replace zippers, make costumes smaller or larger to accommodate performer body shape, size; measure and sew hems) and construct new costumes from a pattern (i.e., cutting fabric, pinning pieces together and sewing either by hand or on a machine) for special events.


    • experienced working with a variety of fabric types.


    • Ability to take accurate measurements (i.e., measurements with tape for length of skirts, sleeve lengths, torso measurements, etc.) and alter costumes accordingly.


    • Assist Costumer with fittings; take accurate measurements; and communicate with Costumers regarding fittings.


    • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UBR policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.


    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications


    • Ability to independently produce an entire garment is preferred but not required, at least 3 years of relevant experience.


    • Experience with variety of sewing machine types and techniques.


    • Demonstrated ability with different stitching and sewing techniques.


    • Fluent in Mandarin.


    • Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays and flexible shift times.

    Education

    At least 3 years of relevant experience on sewing stitching with variety of sewing machine types and techniques.
