    描述

Fueled by advances in sequencing and omics technologies, human genetics research has provided unprecedented insights into revealing causal mechanisms of human diseases and brought great value to drug development. The Centre for Genomics Research (CGR) is an AstraZeneca initiative involving the generation and analysis of genetic and dynamic omic data in participants from AstraZeneca clinical trials, academic partnerships, and large population-based genomic cohorts.

    Role description

This role is an exciting opportunity to join CGR China (Shanghai) as a senior bioinformatics scientist. You will work as part of our growing CGR China team to apply advanced analytic methods to explore patterns in human genomic variations and disease associations. You will partner with stakeholders across AstraZeneca R&D to impact drug discovery projects through the application of human genetics and dynamic omics initiatives. You will be part of a growing local skills network of R&D Bioinformatics and Data Science in China.

    Responsibilities

This role will focus on the development of innovative and robust statistical methods to analyze large-scale human genomics datasets, and/or on the application of such methods and interpretation and communication of results.

  • Lead and carry out quantitative genomic analyses on large-scale cohort studies, to identify risk and response associations for diseases of interest
  • Integrate and interpret proprietary and public data spanning multiple platforms
  • Incorporate additional molecular data into genomic analyses such as gene expression data, metabolomics and/or proteomics
  • Deliver novel insights into the biology of disease, validation of new targets for medicines and the improvement of selection of patients for clinical trials
  • Work with sophisticated phenotype data (e.g., electronic health records and clinical trials) to better identify population subgroups of greatest interest
  • Work with external partners to evaluate and develop methods to be used for selection of third-party testing platforms
  • Collaborate with industry and academia, and utilize external resources, to find the most effective solutions to our drug discovery problems
  • Publish research work in high impact journals
  • Essential Requirements :

  • Doctoral degree (or equivalent experience) in bioinformatics, biostatistics, complex trait genetics, computational biology, statistical genetics or a related field
  • Experience in large-scale genomic data analysis
  • Experience in quantifying and interpreting the clinical relevance of genetic variants (SNVs and structural variants)
  • Familiarity with high performance and/or cloud computing
  • Proficiency in R or Python
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and non-experts, both verbally and through documentation
  • Track record of peer-reviewed publications in high-level scientific journals
  • Desirable Requirements

  • Experience in case-control sequencing based statistical analyses
  • Experience in post-GWAS analysis, such as colocalization, polygenic risk score etc.
  • Experience in omics data analysis, such as RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, Hi-C and single-cell sequencing data analysis
  • Strong background in machine learning and statistics
  • Good knowledge of disease areas of interest to AstraZeneca and drug discovery activities
  • Familiarity with high-throughput sequencing technologies, including NGS, long-read sequencing, and other emerging technologies as well as mass spectrometry proteomics and metabolomics as part of human research
