Job Title:

Scientist - Urethane Additives

Summary:

The Product Development Chemist will design, synthesize and test new products to be used as additives in polyurethane Specialty Foam formulations ranging from Footwear, Integral skin, and PU leather to CASE (Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, Elastomers, and Binders) with a main focus on additives for Footwear applications. A part of the global R&D team, he/she/they will participate to the market introduction of those new products and will provide technical support on the existing Specialties Foam product portfolio to selective customer accounts and countries within Asia with a focus on China.

Responsibilities Include:

Planning and execution of laboratory projects with emphasis on synthesis, characterization, and performance testing up to pilot scale of new products

Control lab activities for highest safety and to ensure compliance with local regulations. Participate to team effort to achieve those.

Own allocated New Product Development project (NPDI), apply project management discipline for timely progression of the allocated project according to plans.

Maintain efficient working relationship within the global Specialties Foam Technology team, ensure and adjust activity to fit agreed global plans.

Efficiently interface with selected Specialties Foam customers in China and Asia to achieve commercial introduction of PU additives focusing on new products. Establish efficient customer relationship build-up as part of this effort.

Create IP relevant for the business - prepare invention disclosures when relevant.

Support the qualification of alternative suppliers for strategic raw materials for Specialty foam additives.

Represent Momentive at technical events with outside parties (conferences, seminars, exhibitions)
