- Key Responsibilities:
- Database Management:
- Design, implement, and maintain efficient and secure database systems.
- Monitor database performance and proactively resolve performance issues.
- Ensure data integrity, availability, and confidentiality.
- Implement and maintain database security protocols.
- Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures.
- Database Optimization:
- Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks.
- Optimize queries and database configurations.
- Recommend and implement best practices for database performance tuning.
- Database Maintenance:
- Apply patches and upgrades to keep database systems current.
- Perform routine database maintenance tasks.
- Maintain documentation related to database systems.
- Data Management:
- Assist in data modeling and schema design.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient data access.
- Support data migrations and data cleansing activities (ETL)
- Troubleshooting and Support:
- Respond to and resolve database-related incidents and outages.
- Provide technical support to end-users and colleagues. Qualifications
- Bachelor or above degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL). SQL Server is a must.
- Proficiency in SQL and database query optimization.
- Familiarity with database design principles and normalization.
- Experience with database security best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in database administration (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator).
- Experience with cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
- Knowledge of master-slave database technologies.
