Description:Be responsible for leading and executing design, engineering work on Control System, Instrumentation for various Gasification projects in global. This position will function with a larger multi-disciplinary team whose overall responsibility is to provide direction, oversight, and functional guidance to EPC and LDIs relative to Air Products philosophies, standard practices and operational expectations. Project and work activities will primarily be focused on gasification and downstream technology. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Lead the plant control system (DCS/SIS/GDS) proposal and estimate for project bidding. Represent Air Products strategic interests as related to process controls and instrumentation when conducting business with LDIs, EPCs and sub suppliers, package vendors and automation vendors. Manage and supervise project activities related to controls and instruments performed by LDIs, EPCs and sub suppliers. Provide functional direction, technical guidance and specification review to LDI s and sub-suppliers with regard to all aspects of a project such as schedules, scope of work, testing and validation of automation system, commissioning plan and startup schedule. Review and validate National and chemical industrial codes and standards, international codes and standards to ensure compliance. Participate in operability reviews, HAZOPs/LOPA, factory acceptance tests for the control system and similar control packages such as compressor, etc. Proficiency in reading and interpreting PIDs in order to provide technical input relative to instrument and control design strategies. Develop plant control strategy during PFD and P&ID execution. Provide AP project management necessary technical information, directions on new and step out technologies used for control and instrumentation. Provide AP project management routine updates on the performance of the LDI and overall progress of the scope and schedule. Lead technical support and functional guidance during startup and commissioning activities Provide technical guidance, direction and over site relative to critical safety shutdown systems to ensure compliance with IEC 61511. Provide SIL verification and validation support for safety instrument system. Define detail TRS (technical risk statement) and CSDO (Control System Design Objectives) and get aligned with key stakeholders for project definition phase. Development of specifications, ITBs and typical solutions to support projects. Lead the technical clarification and approval with Control System supplier for requisition. Provide timely input to cross function detail design according to the work process map. Lead DCS, SIS hardware and software configuration in project engineering. Provide expertise support in supervising execution planning and cost estimation for Control System. Provide technical support to resolve control system issues and to promote best practices and effective use of the latest knowledge. Be familiar with control system cybersecurity solutions. Experience in complex package control solution, such as compressor control scheme. Be familiar with common bus communication protocol and solution. Compliance with agreed health, safety and environmental objectives. Provide coaching and support to junior control engineer during functional design and troubleshooting, solution as needed. Cooperate with Project Management and all project team members with regard to the respective task and duty as assigned. This applies in particular to project execution at several locations. JOB REQUIREMENTS BS/MS or above in Process Automation or Controls Engineering. At least 10 years of applicable work experience with process automation, instrumentation and controls, startup and commissioning activities. Experience in Gasification, Rectisol, Shift reaction and Methanol Synthesis production is preferred. Experience in International Engineering Company. Proficiency in English, both written and oral communication. Familiarity with automation systems (Honeywell preferred) including safety instrumented systems (SIS). Must be able to demonstrate technical competence in control system, instrumentation, and control valve. Excellent team cooperation skills and a strong team player. Excellence in hands-on work, analytical ability, organizational skills and attention to detail. Must be self-motivated and solutions driven.
