Air Liquide Procurement Department is evolving and strengthening its team in Asia Pacific with the aim to build and operate a world-class Global Procurement Organisation, sharing common processes and methodologies, building trust with internal stakeholders and generating solid results through negotiations and cooperation with Suppliers.
Missions and Responsibilities
We are looking for a few category managers in a changing and transforming APAC procurement team. We would like open minded candidates with strong leadership, influential communication, and could be prepared for internal resistances.
Category Manager is acting as the expenditure owner of assigned category, he/she will: Drive category management to ensure AL organization match market benchmark in terms of best practices and technologies, in the spirit of continous improvement. Be responsible for coordinating all external procurement activities for the category across APAC, including the development and implementation of category strategies (short, mid and long term) and plans to support designated APAC-wide strategic objectives. Support to promote internal collaboration, knowledge sharing, compliance with best practices and established category management processes.
Duties & Accountabilities
Develop and share a vision for assigned Categories Promotes new procurement practices, taking into account respective size/complexity of each sub-category and develop an overall vision on how to address each category Define a short, mid and long term strategy / approach toward the category together with the stakeholders. Set category/ categories goals, objectives, define KPIs and manage high performance Well develop Category zone - View of Risk management / Being able to understand the Macro-Economy environment predication which may influence the category strategy Focus on certain category, develop and maintain approaches from new equipment purchase, spare parts order to service and maintenance.
Deploy and develop category management Conduct internal collaboration, knowledge sharing, compliance with best practices and established category management processes. Understand the business needs profoundly and align with internal stakeholders to develop category strategy along with mastering the knowledge of market dynamics, incl competitors and suppliers ecosystems Build strategic relationship with the key suppliers to establish a sustainable supply network, in addition to work with internal engineering company with TCO approach. Promote compliance with Air Liquide code of conduct.
Interactions with Business Leaders (APAC & E&C) & other HUBs/Base Collaborate with Group and other HUBs in category management to leverage the buying power as well as to address the supply risk. Build strong partnership with business leaders to promote strategic category management approach.
SRM Have deep knowledge of the product / service within the category including AL specific requirement, industrial standard etc. Have good understanding of suppliers base and supply market, especially the knowledge and the cost structure of product. Maintain strategic relationship with suppliers
Ensure performance Support negotiations of strategic contracts - Support management of strategic supplier and internal relationships (SRM & IRM) - Set and monitor procurement performance against strategic goals Reduce cost and improve safety by continuously developing category strategy Set category/ categories goals, objectives, define KPIs and manage high performance
Competencies and Profile 5+ years of experience in category and supply market expertise, focusing on rotating equipments, such as cryogenic pumps, vacuum pumps, expanders, as well as compressors and motors. Mechanical / Chemical engineering background; BA or other advanced degree equivalent Good understanding in metal working and mechanical engineering and familiar with engineering design, reverse engineering, key features in applications, metallurgical analysis and component, industrial norms, etc. Proven track record of working with multiple stakeholders (e.g. business, areas) to deliver results, preferably working at Zone or Group levels, taking category ownership. Willingness to travel overseas to support implementation and process improvement within delivery locations Mobility in terms of frequent travel – coverage of all APAC countries (12 countries). English language (second business-relevant language desirable) Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language Strong understanding of Procurement and human resource management principles, practices, and procedures Able to work under matricial organization;
