Job Purpose

To implement and promote a good scientific practice for new product development for OTC brands in China. This individual would support OTC R&D projects on lab works through development, scale-up and manufacturing for various brands including Fenbid, Voltaren, Contac, Bactroban, etc.

Key Responsibilities

Execution Powerhouse

• Effectively involves in different stage of formulation development activities for innovation projects via close collaboration with R&D colleagues complied with different regulatory requirement.

• Support senior scientist on related activities for later stage of project via collaboration with site colleagues.

• Ensures all works are conducted in accordance with written procedures (e.g. quality and safety), methods & batch documents, etc.

• Develop, review and implement written procedures (e.g. quality and safety), methods & batch documents, etc.

• Produces or contributes to departmental quality documentation (including SOP's, batch documentation, validation protocols & reports).

• Specific safety and quality responsibilities for department and site (e.g. GMP, Audits, Health & Safety).

• Highlights own training needs and working with manager develop a training plan and achieve training goals.

• Deepens and expands knowledge of formulation technologies or regulations impacting areas of work (e.g. ChP/ICH)

Consumer and Customer-Obsessed

• Engages in consumer research & studies to understand consumers needs.

• Support consumer-driven innovation development with NPD scientists and Sensory scientists

Data-Driven

• Maintains precise experimental records; issues report at project milestones; writes invention records to protect scientific discoveries.

• Ensures all work is always conducted following good scientific practice and Good Manufacturing Practice (where required).

Agile

• Flexes priorities to remain focused on objectives in rapidly changing circumstances.

• Takes responsibility for specific equipment in accordance with site procedures.

• Supports or lead on problem solving for lab development or scale up activities.

Requirements

• BS degree above, majored in Pharmaceutical or related Science.

• 2 years (BS); 1 years (MS) in R&D or manufacture site.

• Good understanding of the pharmaceutical product development process, including lab prototyping, small pilot trial, commercial scale trial, format covering from granule, tablets, capsule, soft gel, etc.

• Good knowledge of formulation lab equipment and operation.

• An ability to organize and report study data from development activities in lab.
• Knowledge of good storage practice and Employee Health and Safety rules

• Flexibility and ability to apply scientific principles and techniques to assigned projects.

• Clear communicator in both oral and written form with both internal departments and external organizations.

• Take initiative, think and work independently, problem-solve, work effectively in teams, and multitask.
