    Academic Responsibilities

  • To contribute to the establishment of a caring ethos which values all students
  • To teach assigned classes in a competent and stimulating manner, making use of an appropriate range of teaching methods
  • To prepare lessons and courses, and make an appropriate contribution to curriculum development and in doing so to lead the learning and teaching in their classes
  • To liaise with Head of school/Deputy/subject Department/subject coordinator in terms of teaching plans
  • To mark and correct students' work effectively and timeously, to set preps in accordance with the prep timetables, to maintain assessment procedures and prepare reports as required by the department and in accordance with School procedures
  • To maintain discipline and adopt strategies with the aim of maximising each student's attainment.
  • Offer demonstration lessons for their line managers according to Ministry regulations.
  • To make effective use of all appropriate resources, including teaching materials, equipment and accommodation
  • To prepare student reports as required and ensure positive liaison with parents.
  • To participate in self-evaluation and staff development opportunities in response to school, department and personal needs
  • To set and mark prep on a regular basis in order to enhance students' learning.
  • To report on students' work and to discuss students' progress with their parents
  • To participate in 'Open Days' and assessment processes for prospective students and parents.
  • Invigilate exams as required
  • To write references, where appropriate, for students applying to university or other courses
  • To accept other duties assigned to enhance the learning experience of the students and smooth functioning of the School
  • To support School rules and regulations with regard to dress and behaviour, discipline and sanctions
  • To actively contribute to the School's Co-Curricular Programme.
  • To attend all meetings
  • To take advantage of Continuous Professional Development opportunities and training sessions for staff development.
  • To help students beyond the timetabled lessons where required, providing both consolidation and extension, and contribute to the regular department clinics.Pastoral Responsibilities
  • to take homeroom tutor responsibilities as required.
  • to liaise proactively with parents on all matters relating to a student's academic and personal progress
  • to respond timeously to requests from parents in relation to their child's progress and deal with any issues brought up by parents with acknowledgement of the concern on same working day and action as soon as possible thereafter
  • to participate in the Parent Conference meetings
  • to be always aware of all aspects of the wellbeing of students and to monitor each student's academic progress and provide advice in setting and achieving appropriate targets
  • to deliver the Personal Social development programme at the time allocated
  • to coordinate with other colleagues to support a focus on individual strengths and areas for development
  • to support all aspects of personal development and involvement in co-curricular activities
  • register all members of class/tutor group at the start of school day; it is essential for the safety of students that this is done promptly, accurately and without fail
  • to be aware of all aspects of students' personal development
  • to support students in getting the most from the opportunities available in all areas of school life
  • to assist in safeguarding and promoting the safety, good discipline, wellbeing and academic and personal development of tutees
  • promotion of care and wellbeing of tutees as indicated in key tasks and responsibilities listed below
  • to meet with his/her allocated group/class with the aim of ensuring that tutees gain maximum benefit from that membership of the school
  • to assist the Housemaster/Housemistress in helping to ensure that students understand the aims and objectives of membership of the House, and the principles on which community life in the House is based
  • to be active in helping to ensure that the individuals' circumstances, needs, strengths and areas for development are identified and known by staff as needed, so that individual opportunities, talents and potential are developed and maximised
  • to be aware of the academic strengths and areas for development of his/her allocated group; to liaise with staff to ensure that appropriate and relevant background circumstances of students are known and discussed
  • to monitor the academic progress of his/her allocated group/class and to contact parents regularly on this. To take appropriate steps to create the framework for the achievement of his/her tutees' full potential
  • to promote participation in a full and varied programme of co-curricular activities by all student members of his/her allocated group.
  • to promote and cultivate contact and communication with parents of his/her group/class, to help to ensure that they are fully informed about their child's progress and wellbeing; to ensure that any incidents and problems are brought to the attention of those who need to know
  • to keep appropriate records of students' progress, wellbeing, health, emotional problems, achievements and conduct; regularly to check student planning and work schedules, to provide such reports and references as may be reasonably required
  • to support the School's disciplinary policy and, by encouragement and reward and use of a clearly understood and fair system of sanctions, foster acceptance of the rules and expectations of students' behaviour in the House and School; to inform parents and the Housemaster/Housemistress through Engage of any incidents which require sanctions
  • at the request of the Housemaster/Housemistress, to provide input to the annual House Development Plan based on an audit of the work done in the House to safeguard and promote the wellbeing and development of the House community
  • to participate in an annual review of his/her performance and development as a tutor and to ensure that he/she keeps a record of his/her professional developmentMinimum qualifications and experience required
  • Bachelor's degree or above in pedagogy, Educational Technology, teacher education or related majors.
  • Relevant teaching qualifications and certificates
  • Strong sense of responsibility, good team spirit, independent thinking, innovative thinking and consciousness.
  • Good logical thinking and learning ability.
  • 3 years or above experience in K12 teaching field.
  • Solid educational and teaching theories and be able to use theories to guide curriculum development and design.Selection process:
