Mariëtte Steyn Bam

I teach Business Communication (Business English and Behavioural Studies at a local university to first and second year students. I recently completed my TEFL after completing a Master of Arts degree in Intercultural Communication. 

I am confident in my ability and experience to bring a dynamic, student-centred approach that can also be transferred to teaching schoolchildren.

I have two years experience in an English Development Language Laboratory, where I worked closely with students from different cultures for whom English is a third or fourth language. It has taught me the importance of patience, empathy, and flexibility that help me to create a supportive learning environment for non-native English speakers. 

My commitment to teaching excellence was recognised in 2018 when I received my current institution's highest honour – the Rectorate’s Award for Teaching Excellence (RATE).          

It has alwys been a dream of mine to travel and to go to China. With a good career and a loving family (husband and three girls), I am now ready to make that dream come true.
